Connecting researchers and growers. Our success hinges upon growers knowing about and using the innovations we’re developing. And success is only achieved with dynamic feedback among producers, manufacturers, and researchers. To that end, we’re conducting field trials and creating demonstrations, websites, videos, articles, and training sessions to make sure our tools are both applicable and usable in orchards and nurseries.
Successes
- Data from augmented harvest trials indicated a 43% increase in production efficiency
- Data from targeted spray application trials indicated the potential to reduce crop protection chemicals by 50 to 75%
- Designed an energy calculator to assess the amount of fuel used for the high density pilot orchards compared to conventional plantings demonstrated that smaller tractors and implements can result in a 25 to 45% reduction in fuel usage
